Crosscutters News - Morandini & Williams Headline 12th Annual Hot Stove Banquet

Proceeds to benefit Original League
The Williamsport Crosscutters have announced their 12th Annual Hot Stove Banquet will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the Grand Ballroom of the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport. The event is presented in part by Panda Patriot Power, River Valley Transit, WRAK 1400AM, and the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.

Guests at this year’s event include two former Phillies from the 1993 National League Championship team; second baseman Mickey Morandini and relief pitcher Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams. They will be joined by Cutters manager Pat Borders who was their opponent in the 1993 World Series while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Original League in Williamsport, the birthplace of Little League Baseball.

The evening will consist of a full-course dinner, along with interviews and question and answer segments with many of the special guests. There will also be both live and silent auctions of sports memorabilia.

Crosscutters Announce 2018 Schedule for 20th Season

The Williamsport Crosscutters, Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, have announced the schedule for their 20th anniversary season which begins June 15 when they host the rival State College Spikes. 

The 76-game schedule will include 38 home games against seven different New York-Penn League opponents at BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field. 

Teams visiting Williamsport in 2018 include the State College Spikes (St. Louis Cardinals) on June 15, 17, 28, 30, August 21-22, & September 1-3, Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals) June 18-20 & July 1-3, Tri-City ValleyCats (Houston Astros) July 11-13, Batavia MuckDogs (Miami Marlins) July 17-19 & August 11-12, West Virginia Black Bears (Pittsburgh Pirates) July 20-22 & August 2-4, Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) July 27-29, Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) August 8-10, & 26-28.

Crosscutters Accepting Applications for Hot Stove Dinner Charity

The Williamsport Crosscutters are now accepting applications from area non-profits for the 12th Annual Hot Stove Dinner & Auction with the Phillies to take place in January.  The event features guests from the Philadelphia Phillies along with other local sports celebrities.

A portion of the proceeds from the evening are donated to a local non-profit each year.

“This is our favorite event of the off season,” stated Gabe Sinicropi the team’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations.  “We look forward to another night of fun with the Phillies and the opportunity to raise needed funding for a local charity.”  

Local non-profit agencies who wish to be considered must complete and return a short application by November 17, 2017.  The application is available online atwww.crosscutters.com, at the Cutters offices at BB&T Ballpark or by emailingsarah@crosscutters.com

Crosscutters Close 2017 Season With A Victory

Game Highlights: September 7th, 2017 - Jake Scheiner flexed his muscles as the Williamsport Crosscutters closed out their 2017 season with a 6-1 victory over the State College Spikes.

Scheiner finished the night 3 for 4 with a double (14), a home run (4), 2 runs scored and a pair of RBI (18.19), coming a triple shy of the cycle. Greg Pickett finished the night 1 for 2 with a pair of walks and 3 runs scored. Malvin Matos collected his 15th double and a RBI (19), finishing the game 1 for 3.

Brian Mims picked up his 6th RBI of the season while Nerluis Martinez collected his 1st RBI in the Crosscutters win.

Julian Garcia earned the win in his final start of the season, tossing five shutout frames. The right-hander allowed just one base hit and three walks, while striking out six.

Damon Jones and Zach Warren finished the night, combining to allow one run on three hits, four walks and striking out four, as the Crosscutters collected 10 punch outs on the night.

Crosscutters Young, Brogdon Deal Spikes Loss

Game Highlights: September 6th, 2017 - Kyle Young and Connor Brogdon combined to hold the Spikes to two runs as the Crosscutters topped their in-state rivals, 5-2 on the road. Kyle Young finished the night, allowing two runs, both earned, over six innings of work. Matching his season high in innings pitched. The lefty struckout six batters, while walking one and allowing eight hits en route to his team-high 7th win.
